Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Construction , Travel and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 0.06% to hit a new 5-year high.
The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Optima bank SA (AT: OPTIMAr ), which rose 5.65% or 1.15 points to trade at 21.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Gr Sarantis SA (AT: SRSr ) added 3.27% or 0.42 points to end at 13.26 and AS Company SA (AT: ASCr ) was up 2.07% or 0.08 points to 3.94 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ekter (AT: EKTr ), which fell 2.55% or 0.06 points to trade at 2.10 at the close. Jumbo SA (AT: BABr ) declined 2.17% or 0.66 points to end at 29.74 and Athens Medical (AT: AMCr ) was down 2.16% or 0.04 points to 1.81.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 70 to 51 and 23 ended unchanged.
Shares in Optima bank SA (AT: OPTIMAr ) rose to all time highs; rising 5.65% or 1.15 to 21.50. Shares in AS Company SA (AT: ASCr ) rose to 5-year highs; up 2.07% or 0.08 to 3.94.
Gold Futures for August delivery was down 0.50% or 16.83 to $3,329.67 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.76% or 1.17 to hit $67.67 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.35% or 0.92 to trade at $69.22 a barrel.
EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.17, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.20% to 0.86.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.14% at 96.96.
