Mexico stocks higher at close of trade; S&P/BMV IPC up 0.92%

Investing.com – Mexico stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Industrials , Consumer Goods & Services and Consumer Staples sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Mexico, the S&P/BMV IPC gained 0.92% to hit a new 1-month high.

The best performers of the session on the S&P/BMV IPC were Grupo Financiero Inbursa , SAB De CV (BMV: GFINBURO ), which rose 2.73% or 1.35 points to trade at 50.85 at the close. Meanwhile, Alfa, S.A.B. De C.V. (BMV: ALFAA ) added 2.66% or 0.37 points to end at 14.26 and Fomento Economico Mexicano UBD (BMV: FEMSAUBD ) was up 2.33% or 4.52 points to 198.73 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Gentera SAB de CV (BMV: GENTERA ), which fell 2.17% or 0.91 points to trade at 41.00 at the close. Qualitas Controladora, SAB De CV (BMV: Q ) declined 2.06% or 3.96 points to end at 187.97 and Industrias Penoles Sab De CV (BMV: PEOLES ) was down 1.86% or 9.63 points to 507.80.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Mexico Stock Exchange by 155 to 86 and 10 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.56% or 18.75 to $3,368.55 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 3.19% or 2.09 to hit $67.54 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 3.04% or 2.04 to trade at $69.15 a barrel.

USD/MXN was down 0.03% to 18.79, while EUR/MXN unchanged 0.00% to 22.17.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 96.44.
