France stocks higher at close of trade; CAC 40 up 0.99%

Investing.com – France stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Oil & Gas , Technology and Consumer Goods sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Paris, the CAC 40 added 0.99%, while the SBF 120 index climbed 0.96%.

The best performers of the session on the CAC 40 were ArcelorMittal SA (AS: MT ), which rose 5.88% or 1.55 points to trade at 27.91 at the close. Meanwhile, STMicroelectronics NV (EPA: STMPA ) added 5.28% or 1.35 points to end at 26.83 and LVMH Moet Hennessy Louis Vuitton SE (EPA: LVMH ) was up 4.15% or 19.45 points to 488.50 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Danone SA (EPA: DANO ), which fell 1.11% or 0.78 points to trade at 69.42 at the close. AXA SA (EPA: AXAF ) declined 1.02% or 0.42 points to end at 40.64 and Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield SE (EPA: URW ) was down 0.94% or 0.76 points to 80.20.

The top performers on the SBF 120 were Viridien SA (EPA: VIRI ) which rose 9.43% to 63.25, Forvia (EPA: FRVIA ) which was up 9.12% to settle at 9.55 and Soitec SA (EPA: SOIT ) which gained 7.82% to close at 49.90.

The worst performers were Covivio SA (EPA: CVO ) which was down 1.87% to 52.60 in late trade, Mercialys SA (EPA: MERY ) which lost 1.47% to settle at 10.74 and Argan (EPA: ARGAN ) which was down 1.39% to 63.70 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Paris Stock Exchange by 304 to 193 and 72 ended unchanged.

The CAC 40 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of CAC 40 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.96 a new 52-week high.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.16% or 5.22 to $3,355.02 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.65% or 1.08 to hit $66.53 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.70% or 1.14 to trade at $68.25 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.13% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP rose 0.79% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.09% at 96.55.
