Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 0.51%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Basic Materials , Industrials and Utilities sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI added 0.51% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were Mota Engil SGPS SA (ELI: MOTA ), which rose 2.30% or 0.09 points to trade at 3.91 at the close. Meanwhile, Semapa (ELI: SEM ) added 2.15% or 0.36 points to end at 17.14 and EDP Renovaveis (ELI: EDPR ) was up 1.94% or 0.19 points to 10.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Nos SGPS SA (ELI: NOS ), which fell 1.26% or 0.05 points to trade at 3.91 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI: CTT ) declined 0.93% or 0.07 points to end at 7.47 and Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI: RENE ) was down 0.82% or 0.03 points to 3.04.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 19 to 8 and 4 ended unchanged.

Brent oil for September delivery was up 1.65% or 1.11 to $68.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.65% or 1.08 to hit $66.53 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.22% or 7.26 to trade at $3,357.06 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.08% to 1.18, while EUR/GBP rose 0.78% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.51.
