U.K. stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.22%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Household Goods & Home Construction , Real Estate Investment Trusts REITs and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 declined 0.22%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Glencore PLC (LON: GLEN ), which rose 4.96% or 14.45 points to trade at 305.70 at the close. Meanwhile, Antofagasta PLC (LON: ANTO ) added 4.59% or 84.00 points to end at 1,916.00 and Spirax-Sarco Engineering PLC (LON: SPX ) was up 4.40% or 260.00 points to 6,175.00 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Berkeley Group Holdings PLC (LON: BKGH ), which fell 7.88% or 308.00 points to trade at 3,600.00 at the close. Persimmon PLC (LON: PSN ) declined 6.78% or 88.00 points to end at 1,210.50 and NatWest Group PLC (LON: NWG ) was down 5.51% or 27.60 points to 473.80.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 880 to 879 and 559 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was up 0.24% or 7.92 to $3,357.72 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in August rose 1.70% or 1.11 to hit $66.56 a barrel, while the September Brent oil contract rose 1.73% or 1.16 to trade at $68.27 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.92% to 1.36, while EUR/GBP rose 0.78% to 0.87.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 96.52.
