Roblox: What’s behind the meteoric rise of ’Grow a Garden’

  • July 2, 2025

Investing.com -- The Roblox hit titled "Grow a Garden" is one of the most popular Roblox experiences of all time, setting records and showcasing the power of the Roblox platform, according to a new note from Barclays.

Launched on March 25, 2025, Grow a Garden has quickly racked up over 12 billion lifetime visits, and in June 2025, it broke Fortnite’s record for the most concurrently played video game, Barclays said.

Despite offering only about a 4% estimated upside to 2025 bookings, the stock’s 2026 EV/revenue multiple has expanded 72% since the game’s debut, “likely more than ‘pricing in’ the momentum,” the analysts noted.

Barclays compared the game’s early momentum to Farmville, suggesting that even with typical usage tapering off over time, Grow a Garden could “continue to add to Bookings for some time—potentially 24 months or more.”

But the impact goes far beyond near-term monetization.

“We think this new experience is having a net positive effect on the Roblox platform,” Barclays wrote.

On the user side, the viral popularity of Grow a Garden is “attracting new ‘first-time’ Roblox users and reactivating existing dormant users,” helping to lift overall engagement.

Concurrent user growth and year-over-year platform growth are said to have both accelerated since its launch.

On the developer side, the success story serves as a showcase for Roblox’s upgraded search and discovery technology, which helped Grow a Garden become the fastest experience to reach 10 billion visits in history, Barclays said.

While the firm maintains an Equal Weight rating on Roblox shares due to valuation concerns, it emphasized that Grow a Garden “is a big testimonial to the greater developer community.”
