U.K. stocks higher at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 up 0.71%

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Industrial Transportation , Aerospace & Defense and Travel & Leisure sectors led shares higher.

At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 gained 0.71%.

The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Vistry Group PLC (LON: VTYV ), which rose 5.73% or 33.80 points to trade at 624.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Melrose Industries PLC (LON: MRON ) added 5.56% or 25.10 points to end at 476.50 and International Consolidated Airlines Group S.A. (LON: ICAG ) was up 4.53% or 14.50 points to 334.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Centrica PLC (LON: CNA ), which fell 1.55% or 2.45 points to trade at 156.15 at the close. Rio Tinto PLC (LON: RIO ) declined 1.40% or 64.00 points to end at 4,498.50 and Experian PLC (LON: EXPN ) was down 1.21% or 46.00 points to 3,742.00.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1277 to 508 and 562 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for August delivery was down 2.17% or 73.79 to $3,320.71 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July fell 1.46% or 0.90 to hit $60.63 a barrel, while the August Brent oil contract fell 1.28% or 0.82 to trade at $63.30 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.41% to 1.35, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.11% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.63% at 99.49.
