Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.32%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Electric Power , Public Utilities and Consumption sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.32% to hit a new all time high.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were JBS SA (BVMF: JBSS3 ), which rose 3.06% or 1.19 points to trade at 40.09 at the close. Meanwhile, Embraer SA (BVMF: EMBR3 ) added 2.76% or 1.90 points to end at 70.65 and Lojas Renner SA (BVMF: LREN3 ) was up 2.62% or 0.46 points to 17.99 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Marfrig Alimentos SA (BVMF: MRFG3 ), which fell 6.42% or 1.61 points to trade at 23.46 at the close. Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ) declined 3.90% or 0.13 points to end at 3.20 and Automob Participações SA (BVMF: AMOB3 ) was down 3.70% or 0.01 points to 0.26.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 469 to 454 and 73 ended unchanged.

Shares in Lojas Renner SA (BVMF: LREN3 ) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.62% or 0.46 to 17.99.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 3.71% to 28.80.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 1.40% or 44.47 to $3,231.77 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in July rose 0.24% or 0.15 to hit $62.12 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract rose 2.61% or 9.55 to trade at $375.20 .

USD/BRL was down 0.25% to 5.65, while EUR/BRL rose 0.43% to 6.35.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.69% at 100.25.
