Greece stocks higher at close of trade; Athens General Composite up 0.77%

Investing.com – Greece stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Construction , Banking and Travel sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Athens, the Athens General Composite rose 0.77% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the Athens General Composite were Ellaktor SA (AT: HELr ), which rose 4.60% or 0.06 points to trade at 1.32 at the close. Meanwhile, Ekter (AT: EKTr ) added 4.50% or 0.09 points to end at 2.09 and Techn Olympic (AT: OLYr ) was up 3.57% or 0.08 points to 2.32 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Iktinos Hellas (AT: IKTr ), which fell 2.32% or 0.01 points to trade at 0.34 at the close. Jumbo SA (AT: BABr ) declined 1.59% or 0.46 points to end at 28.44 and Alpha Bank SA (AT: ACBr ) was down 1.18% or 0.03 points to 2.52.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Athens Stock Exchange by 78 to 47 and 21 ended unchanged.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.66% or 21.15 to $3,249.15 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 1.61% or 1.00 to hit $62.95 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract rose 1.40% or 0.91 to trade at $65.87 a barrel.

EUR/USD was up 0.62% to 1.12, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.06% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.51% at 101.08.
