Portugal stocks higher at close of trade; PSI up 1.76%

Investing.com – Portugal stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Utilities , Basic Materials and Financials sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Lisbon, the PSI gained 1.76% to hit a new 5-year high.

The best performers of the session on the PSI were EDP Renovaveis (ELI: EDPR ), which rose 5.47% or 0.45 points to trade at 8.68 at the close. Meanwhile, The Navigator Company SA (ELI: NVGR ) added 4.85% or 0.16 points to end at 3.46 and Galp Energia Nom (ELI: GALP ) was up 2.76% or 0.39 points to 14.31 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Ren Redes Energeticas Nacionais SGPS SA (ELI: RENE ), which fell 1.66% or 0.05 points to trade at 2.67 at the close. CTT Correios de Portugal SA (ELI: CTT ) declined 1.32% or 0.09 points to end at 6.71 and Nos SGPS SA (ELI: NOS ) was down 0.27% or 0.01 points to 3.65.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Lisbon Stock Exchange by 17 to 8 and 1 ended unchanged.

Brent oil for July delivery was up 1.94% or 1.24 to $65.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June rose 2.03% or 1.24 to hit $62.26 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 3.17% or 106.09 to trade at $3,237.91 a troy ounce.

EUR/USD was down 1.24% to 1.11, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.41% to 0.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 1.32% at 101.49.
