Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Oil & Gas , Consumer Goods and Financials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined 0.24%, while the S&P 500 index fell 0.63%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 0.74%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were International Business Machines (NYSE: IBM ), which rose 1.48% or 3.63 points to trade at 249.18 at the close. Meanwhile, Unitedhealth Group (NYSE: UNH ) added 1.22% or 4.89 points to end at 404.81 and McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE: MCD ) was up 1.21% or 3.76 points to 315.72 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Apple Inc (NASDAQ: AAPL ), which fell 3.15% or 6.46 points to trade at 198.89 at the close. Chevron Corp (NYSE: CVX ) declined 2.17% or 3.00 points to end at 135.50 and Nike Inc (NYSE: NKE ) was down 2.12% or 1.24 points to 57.35.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Godaddy Inc (NYSE: GDDY ) which rose 3.36% to 182.19, EQT Corporation (NYSE: EQT ) which was up 3.22% to settle at 53.52 and Delta Air Lines Inc (NYSE: DAL ) which gained 2.96% to close at 45.51.

The worst performers were Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc (NYSE: ZBH ) which was down 11.62% to 90.48 in late trade, ON Semiconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: ON ) which lost 8.38% to settle at 38.40 and Tyson Foods Inc (NYSE: TSN ) which was down 7.76% to 56.08 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were NewGenIvf Group Ltd (NASDAQ: NIVF ) which rose 1,076.08% to 3.54, Psyence Biomedical Ltd (NASDAQ: PBM ) which was up 999.35% to settle at 4.77 and Sol Gel Technologies Ltd (NASDAQ: SLGL ) which gained 505.48% to close at 4.42.

The worst performers were EPWK Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: EPWK ) which was down 74.98% to 5.61 in late trade, Energys Group Ltd (NASDAQ: ENGS ) which lost 66.41% to settle at 3.09 and Above Food Ingredients Inc (NASDAQ: ABVE ) which was down 47.75% to 1.16 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1839 to 931 and 77 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2170 fell and 1136 advanced, while 120 ended unchanged.

Shares in Zimmer Biomet Holdings Inc (NYSE: ZBH ) fell to 5-year lows; falling 11.62% or 11.90 to 90.48. Shares in Energys Group Ltd (NASDAQ: ENGS ) fell to all time lows; losing 66.41% or 6.11 to 3.09.

The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 4.23% to 23.64.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 3.03% or 98.39 to $3,341.69 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 1.92% or 1.12 to hit $57.17 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 1.65% or 1.01 to trade at $60.28 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.16% to 1.13, while USD/JPY fell 0.83% to 143.75.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 99.62.
