Investing.com – Taiwan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Machinery , Other Electronic and Electronic Parts/Components sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Taiwan, the Taiwan Weighted added 2.73%.

The best performers of the session on the Taiwan Weighted were Tainan Spinning Co Ltd (TW: 1440 ), which rose 10.00% or 1.20 points to trade at 13.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Tidehold Development Co Ltd (TW: 9902 ) added 9.96% or 1.30 points to end at 14.35 and Taiwan Fertilizer Co Ltd (TW: 1722 ) was up 9.96% or 5.10 points to 56.30 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Enlight Corp (TW: 2438 ), which fell 5.42% or 1.95 points to trade at 34.05 at the close. Union Insurance Co Ltd (TW: 2816 ) declined 4.69% or 1.35 points to end at 27.45 and GeoVision Inc (TW: 3356 ) was down 4.32% or 2.70 points to 59.80.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Taiwan Stock Exchange by 0 to 0.

Crude oil for June delivery was down 3.17% or 1.85 to $56.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July fell 2.90% or 1.78 to hit $59.51 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.70% or 22.84 to trade at $3,266.14 a troy ounce.

USD/TWD was down 3.75% to 29.57, while TWD/CNY rose 3.91% to 0.25.

The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 99.55.
