Investing.com – U.K. stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Travel & Leisure , Automobiles & Parts and Healthcare Equipment & Services sectors led shares higher.
At the close in London, the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 added 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Investing.com United Kingdom 100 were Whitbread PLC (LON: WTB ), which rose 5.79% or 150.00 points to trade at 2,743.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Informa PLC (LON: INF ) added 4.23% or 30.80 points to end at 758.60 and EasyJet PLC (LON: EZJ ) was up 4.04% or 20.00 points to 514.60 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LON: LLOY ), which fell 2.65% or 1.94 points to trade at 71.34 at the close. Associated British Foods PLC (LON: ABF ) declined 2.33% or 48.00 points to end at 2,016.00 and London Stock Exchange Group PLC (LON: LSEG ) was down 2.28% or 265.00 points to 11,360.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the London Stock Exchange by 776 to 429 and 988 ended unchanged.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 3.07% or 101.81 to $3,217.29 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 0.50% or 0.29 to hit $57.92 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 0.51% or 0.31 to trade at $60.75 a barrel.
GBP/USD was down 0.47% to 1.33, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.02% to 0.85.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.85% at 100.11.
