Russia stocks lower at close of trade; MOEX Russia Index down 1.22%

Investing.com – Russia stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Mining , Oil & Gas and Power sectors led shares lower.

At the close in Moscow, the MOEX Russia Index lost 1.22%.

The best performers of the session on the MOEX Russia Index were Severstal PJSC (MCX: CHMF ), which rose 1.95% or 20.20 points to trade at 1,053.80 at the close. Meanwhile, VK Company Ltd (MCX: VKCO ) added 1.86% or 4.90 points to end at 268.70 and AK ALROSA PJSC (MCX: ALRS ) was up 1.83% or 0.90 points to 50.09 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Magnitogorskiy Metallurgicheskiy Kombinat PAO (MCX: MAGN ), which fell 3.46% or 1.18 points to trade at 32.82 at the close. Unipro PJSC (MCX: UPRO ) declined 2.83% or 0.05 points to end at 1.72 and NOVATEK PJSC (MCX: NVTK ) was down 2.32% or 28.20 points to 1,186.40.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Moscow Stock Exchange by 188 to 56 and 9 ended unchanged.

The Russian Volatility Index – RVI , which measures the implied volatility of MOEX Russia Index options, was down 7.08% to 43.84 a new 1-month low.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 1.03% or 34.30 to $3,299.30 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 3.62% or 2.19 to hit $58.23 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 3.41% or 2.16 to trade at $61.12 a barrel.

USD/RUB was unchanged 0.00% to 82.00, while EUR/RUB unchanged 0.00% to 92.84.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.42% at 99.44.
