Brazil stocks higher at close of trade; Bovespa up 0.06%

Investing.com – Brazil stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Financials , Telecoms and Public Utilities sectors led shares higher.

At the close in Sao Paulo, the Bovespa rose 0.06% to hit a new 6-months high.

The best performers of the session on the Bovespa were Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ), which rose 8.00% or 0.34 points to trade at 4.59 at the close. Meanwhile, Cogna Educacao SA (BVMF: COGN3 ) added 3.93% or 0.10 points to end at 2.56 and Prio SA (BVMF: PRIO3 ) was up 2.51% or 0.85 points to 34.66 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Azul SA Pref (BVMF: AZUL4 ), which fell 10.77% or 0.21 points to trade at 1.74 at the close. Caixa Seguridade Participacoes SA (BVMF: CXSE3 ) declined 4.24% or 0.71 points to end at 16.02 and Natura & Co SA (BVMF: NTCO3 ) was down 3.92% or 0.39 points to 9.55.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the B3 Stock Exchange by 521 to 373 and 62 ended unchanged.

Shares in Companhia Brasileira De Distribuica (BVMF: PCAR3 ) rose to 52-week highs; up 8.00% or 0.34 to 4.59. Shares in Azul SA Pref (BVMF: AZUL4 ) fell to all time lows; losing 10.77% or 0.21 to 1.74.

The CBOE Brazil Etf Volatility , which measures the implied volatility of Bovespa options, was down 9.71% to 30.22.

Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.51% or 17.10 to $3,330.60 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.92% or 1.81 to hit $60.24 a barrel, while the July US coffee C contract fell 2.02% or 8.30 to trade at $401.75 .

USD/BRL was down 0.41% to 5.63, while EUR/BRL fell 0.71% to 6.41.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 98.97.
