Investing.com – Canada stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Healthcare , Consumer Discretionary and Telecoms sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Toronto, the S&P/TSX Composite rose 0.31%.
The best performers of the session on the S&P/TSX Composite were Brookfield Business Partners LP (TSX: BBU_u ), which rose 3.86% or 1.14 points to trade at 30.64 at the close. Meanwhile, Tilray Inc (TSX: TLRY ) added 3.08% or 0.02 points to end at 0.67 and TMX Group Limited (TSX: X ) was up 2.87% or 1.53 points to 54.88 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kelt Exploration Ltd. (TSX: KEL ), which fell 3.67% or 0.22 points to trade at 5.77 at the close. International Petroleum Corp (TSX: IPCO ) declined 3.64% or 0.73 points to end at 19.35 and Birchcliff Energy Ltd . (TSX: BIR ) was down 3.47% or 0.21 points to 5.85.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Toronto Stock Exchange by 520 to 364 and 95 ended unchanged.
Shares in TMX Group Limited (TSX: X ) rose to all time highs; rising 2.87% or 1.53 to 54.88.
The S&P/TSX 60 VIX , which measures the implied volatility of S&P/TSX Composite options, was down 5.37% to 20.61.
Gold Futures for June delivery was down 0.50% or 16.86 to $3,330.84 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in June fell 2.97% or 1.84 to hit $60.21 a barrel, while the July Brent oil contract fell 2.62% or 1.70 to trade at $63.09 a barrel.
CAD/USD was unchanged 0.01% to 0.72, while CAD/EUR unchanged 0.28% to 0.63.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.18% at 98.96.
