Investing.com – U.S. stocks were mixed after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Technology , Consumer Goods and Industrials sectors led shares higher while losses in the Healthcare , Financials and Basic Materials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.03%, while the S&P 500 index climbed 0.38%, and the NASDAQ Composite index added 0.87%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Nike Inc (NYSE: NKE ), which rose 2.04% or 1.30 points to trade at 64.78 at the close. Meanwhile, Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT ) added 1.81% or 6.80 points to end at 382.19 and NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA ) was up 1.63% or 1.77 points to 110.15 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ ), which fell 7.59% or 12.60 points to trade at 153.25 at the close. Merck & Company Inc (NYSE: MRK ) declined 2.95% or 2.65 points to end at 87.11 and Amgen Inc (NASDAQ: AMGN ) was down 1.49% or 4.63 points to 306.92.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Vistra Energy Corp (NYSE: VST ) which rose 4.09% to 122.24, Ralph Lauren Corp Class A (NYSE: RL ) which was up 3.71% to settle at 228.92 and Tesla Inc (NASDAQ: TSLA ) which gained 3.60% to close at 268.48.

The worst performers were Johnson & Johnson (NYSE: JNJ ) which was down 7.59% to 153.25 in late trade, Southwest Airlines Company (NYSE: LUV ) which lost 5.93% to settle at 31.59 and Warner Bros Discovery Inc (NASDAQ: WBD ) which was down 4.80% to 10.22 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Meiwu Technology Co Ltd (NASDAQ: WNW ) which rose 1,612.77% to 1.61, ReShape Lifesciences Inc (NASDAQ: RSLS ) which was up 341.05% to settle at 1.59 and bioAffinity Technologies Inc (NASDAQ: BIAF ) which gained 319.23% to close at 1.09.

The worst performers were Golden Heaven Group Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: GDHG ) which was down 88.48% to 0.54 in late trade, Brag House Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: TBH ) which lost 80.79% to settle at 1.27 and Open Lending Corp (NASDAQ: LPRO ) which was down 58.15% to 1.15 at the close.

Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1681 to 1091 and 85 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 1741 fell and 1546 advanced, while 134 ended unchanged.

Shares in Meiwu Technology Co Ltd (NASDAQ: WNW ) rose to all time lows; rising 1,612.77% or 1.52 to 1.61. Shares in Golden Heaven Group Holdings Ltd (NASDAQ: GDHG ) fell to all time lows; down 88.48% or 4.17 to 0.54. Shares in Brag House Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: TBH ) fell to all time lows; falling 80.79% or 5.34 to 1.27. Shares in Open Lending Corp (NASDAQ: LPRO ) fell to all time lows; losing 58.15% or 1.61 to 1.15.

The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was down 2.29% to 21.77.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.07% or 2.32 to $3,152.62 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May fell 0.35% or 0.25 to hit $71.23 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract fell 0.40% or 0.30 to trade at $74.47 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.24% to 1.08, while USD/JPY fell 0.31% to 149.54.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.04% at 103.93.
