Investing.com – U.S. stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Technology , Consumer Services and Industrials sectors led shares lower.

At the close in NYSE, the Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 0.31%, while the S&P 500 index lost 1.12%, and the NASDAQ Composite index fell 2.04%.

The best performers of the session on the Dow Jones Industrial Average were Procter & Gamble Company (NYSE: PG ), which rose 2.29% or 3.73 points to trade at 166.58 at the close. Meanwhile, McDonald’s Corporation (NYSE: MCD ) added 2.17% or 6.66 points to end at 313.58 and Coca-Cola Co (NYSE: KO ) was up 1.77% or 1.22 points to 70.03 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were NVIDIA Corporation (NASDAQ: NVDA ), which fell 5.74% or 6.93 points to trade at 113.76 at the close. Salesforce Inc (NYSE: CRM ) declined 2.64% or 7.62 points to end at 280.99 and Amazon.com Inc (NASDAQ: AMZN ) was down 2.23% or 4.59 points to 201.12.

The top performers on the S&P 500 were Cintas Corporation (NASDAQ: CTAS ) which rose 5.82% to 204.72, Paychex Inc (NASDAQ: PAYX ) which was up 4.20% to settle at 150.19 and Molina Healthcare Inc (NYSE: MOH ) which gained 4.16% to close at 323.44.

The worst performers were Super Micro Computer Inc (NASDAQ: SMCI ) which was down 8.86% to 37.04 in late trade, Moderna Inc (NASDAQ: MRNA ) which lost 7.00% to settle at 31.48 and Arista Networks (NYSE: ANET ) which was down 6.07% to 81.66 at the close.

The top performers on the NASDAQ Composite were Lion Group Holding Ltd (NASDAQ: LGHL ) which rose 5,521.62% to 4.16, Petros Pharmaceuticals Inc (NASDAQ: PTPI ) which was up 133.56% to settle at 0.14 and OSR Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: OSRH ) which gained 132.48% to close at 3.72.

The worst performers were Imac Holdings Inc (OTC: BACK ) which was down 64.50% to 0.07 in late trade, Acrivon Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ACRV ) which lost 51.58% to settle at 2.61 and Benson Hill Inc (NASDAQ: BHIL ) which was down 41.19% to 0.25 at the close.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the New York Stock Exchange by 1742 to 1032 and 71 ended unchanged; on the Nasdaq Stock Exchange, 2143 fell and 1138 advanced, while 137 ended unchanged.

Shares in Imac Holdings Inc (OTC: BACK ) fell to all time lows; losing 64.50% or 0.13 to 0.07. Shares in Acrivon Therapeutics Inc (NASDAQ: ACRV ) fell to all time lows; falling 51.58% or 2.78 to 2.61. Shares in Benson Hill Inc (NASDAQ: BHIL ) fell to all time lows; losing 41.19% or 0.17 to 0.25.

The CBOE Volatility Index , which measures the implied volatility of S&P 500 options, was up 6.88% to 18.33.

Gold Futures for June delivery was up 0.03% or 0.84 to $3,055.14 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in May rose 1.32% or 0.91 to hit $69.91 a barrel, while the June Brent oil contract rose 1.23% or 0.89 to trade at $73.28 a barrel.

EUR/USD was unchanged 0.35% to 1.08, while USD/JPY rose 0.44% to 150.55.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.37% at 104.21.
